Gamer-Dream Diary

Dream 1 –

Woke up in a world today unlike any I’ve ever seen. There was nothing modern about it. I met the leader of a rebellion and also a leader of another group called the Imperials. I think the first guy I met was a part of the “Stormcloaks”. Hadvar became my new best friend when he helped me escape. Oh yeah, I’d been ambushed prior to waking up by the Imperials and was being executed when a dragon attacked. Through the chaos I was able to flee and get Hadvar back to his family in a strange town by a river aptly named Riverside. His father was a trader and I was able to sell some of my swag to him. I also met an elf named Faendal who wanted me to give a letter to his lover saying it was Sven, the bard he is jealous of. What should I do? Should I tell her it was Faendal or Sven? I think now I must travel to a city called Whiterun to the jarl (king) to tell him about the dragon.

Dream 2-

When I was granted entrance tonight with the jarl I spoke with Irileth his bodyguard first. I told her I was there to tell the jarl about the attack at Helgen (where I was previously attacked by a dragon).  I was then directed to the court mage Farengar to find some Dragonstone in Bleak Falls Barrow outside of Riverside. A couple was having an argument about a lost item they perceived to also be in the barrow so I said if I ran across it I would return it to them. Turns out the dragon claw they misplaced was exactly what I needed to open the door to the chamber that held the Dragonstone. Despite the bandits and drauger (spell check) that were throughout the barrow, I was able to kill them with ease and recover the tablet. Interestingly enough there was a glowing word on the wall I was able to learn. I have no previous recollection of the word or what to do with it. After the stone was recovered I returned to the mage to discover a hooded figure with him, one of his clients I presume. She was the one who gave us the lead about the stone in the first place. Just as we were finishing up business about the stone Irileth barged in saying something about a dragon. Now we are on the way to go see about the dragon spotting.

Dream 3-

They call me a Dragonborn. Legend speaks of the Dragonborn who can kill dragons and steal their souls for power. Apparently I can shout (Thu’um) in their language. Strange, none of these words are familiar to me. When I spoke to the jarl, he told me about the Greybeards who have summoned me to High Hrothgar. Apparently this has not happened for many ages. A lot of the Nords that I meet are so persistent that I am this Dragonborn. Maybe the pilgrimage up the 7000 steps to the Greybeards will help me know.

Dream 4-
I made my way over to Ivarstead today to make the pilgrimage up to High Hrothgar where the Greybeards await my presence. I had to pass through Helgen again and found it to be inhabited by bandits. I guess that the ruins are the only place they seem to obtain for free. They didn’t seem too demented, but didn’t like me approaching Helgen so I had to deal with them. I also met an Afflicted Refugee who worships Peryite today along with being assaulted by some wolves. Not too keen on tangoing with a wolf but I nearly stumbled upon a bear’s den and I rather appreciate wolves now. Aside from the usual nature of Skyrim there was another dragon circling above me right before Ivarstead. I wonder why they are after me in particular, they don’t seem to circle anyone else. I appreciate the beautiful scenery that I was able to walk through, but the high altitude and snow was not as pleasant as I’d hoped. Tomorrow I get to trek up the 7000 steps to High Hrothgar and finally meet the Greybeards. I hope this isn’t a waste of my time.

Dream 5-

I finally made the pilgrimage up to High Hrothgar to meet the Greybeards. What a journey that was. After fending off a Frostbite Spider, and they aren’t small either, a Sabre Tooth Cat, and and Ice Wolf I thought I was done with antagonists, but as fate would have it the last thing keeping me from the little path up to High Hrothgar was a Frost Troll. I nearly died trying to fight it. That thing looked like a gorilla with three eyes and could hit with the power of a UFC fighter, two hits and KO. After reflecting on my conversation with the Greybeards, I believe that my destiny is like Arngeir said; He can guide me on my path to destiny, but my destination is up to me. I have a feeling that whatever my destiny may be, It’s going to be a few small things easily accomplished, and one giant thing to overcome. Nine Divines help me in this quest. Actually I heard something about Azura and I might just go check out her shrine up in the mountains. The Greybeards put me up to the test to see if I was who I was, the Dragonborn. I’ve also learned that I’m not the first Dragonborn there was, just the first one in a very long time. I can shout with ease unlike most folk, but the last part of my “test” is to fetch the horn of Jurgen Windcaller. Some old guy lost or left his horn in some deep dark barrow probably infested with the dead and some alright treasures that amounts to a few coins to purchase just about nothing. As I was making my way to the barrow I happened to have a dragon pounce upon my path as it was flying above. The last time I was able to defeat one of these bad boys was with a group of guards from Whiterun, but now I then I was on my own. Between the running through the trees screaming like a little girl and getting lucky with my arrows I finally was able to kill and acquire the soul of the dragon. Interestingly enough he was protecting a Word of Power that I was able to learn from a wall on the peak of a mountain. After salvaging the area for anything good that the dragon had looted I moved on to Morthal and then through the swamps to the barrow where I encountered a Necromancer and some bandits. It was only after I killed the Necromancer that I learned she conjured their bodies from death. I must be getting good at my archery because it only took one shot to kill her. On the plus side I am now able to rest and tomorrow I will enter the barrow and retrieve this horn of Jurgen Windcaller.

Dream 6-

As I was walking through the tomb I noticed that a few Necromancers decided to inhabit the entrance to the ruins. After eliminating the mages with sneaky skilled shots I preceded to venture further into the tomb whence I encountered the infamous Draugr, the undead that guard the tomb. The seemingly endless stream of undead that kept awakening in their caskets was only a minor setback as I eventually found myself in a vast underground cavern that was almost lush with vegetation. It’s a wonder how something so beautiful was trapped in something so dark and cruel. I can imagine that the emptiness was not always so and the ever watchful guardians, skeletons patrolling this underground haven, were once alive and happy. Another strange word of the Dova was written upon a wall near the pool of water at the bottom of the cavern and I was able to learn its ways. Eventually I found my way back up to three stones which lit up when passed by. Each stone when lit up opened one of three gates that was required of me to use my Thu’um to pass through successfully. I guess this really insured that one alone, the Dragonborn can really pass the challenges this tomb represents. Upon finding Jurgen Windcaller’s final resting place I found a note instead of a horn that instructed me to meet someone at an inn. I don’t know how they got in here alone because even I had some difficulty but an investigation of this mysterious horn thief must be undertaken. I must prove to the Greybeards that I am Dragonborn. I must prove it to the world.

Dream 7-

Consequently that note led me back to Riverwood to meet in an attic room of the local inn. When I asked Delphine, the caretaker, she seemed quite puzzled about my question but gave me a room anyway, “the one on the left” she said. Shortly after I entered the room Delphine came in and recognized me as the Dragonborn. We then went to a secret underground room in her room to talk privately. We discussed about the Thalmor and the return of the dragons that we supposed to be dead and then she said I was to prove I was who I say I am, the Dragonborn. She is part of the Blades, an ancient order who slayed dragons. Kynesgrove was our destination. It was quite a walk and we only encountered a few troubles that delayed us. For some reason a group called the Dark Brotherhood were after me by some Black Sacrament performed. Someone already wants me dead! That was nothing when we approached Kynegrove’s dragon burial ground. A dragon named Alduin shouted at the mound and out came another dragon, apparently his friend. He wasn’t too hard to kill and not the best scaly monster to fight, but still a nuisance. Alduin escaped but at least I proved to Delphine I am who I claim to be. From here I don’t know what will happen. It raises the question of who Alduin is, but I feel that is soon to be told.
